Iván Orizaga Villaseñor is a Mexican cinematographer from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Amongst the short films he has taken part in as a Director of Photography we can highlight "My Calaverita" ('Mi calaverita' by Andrea Crespo, 2018), "All Grannies are Witches" ('Las abuelas son brujas' by Yolanda Orizaga, 2019) and "Ada Office" (by Carlos V. Diupotex, 2021), as well as the web series "Phobias" ('Fobias' by Jorge Amarilla, 2017-2018).

 

In addition to his labour as a cinematographer, Iván has also performed as a screen writer whose filmography includes the titles “Never Mind” ('Resignación' Official Selection FICMEX – Shorts México, 2012) and “Falling in Love at the Tower of Babel” ('Enamorado en la Torre de Babel' Official Selections FICMEX – Shorts México, 2015; y Oaxaca FilmFest, 2016).

 

As a director, Iván Orizaga won the Curatorship Award at the Festival Entretodos 2021 in São Paulo, Brazil, with his short film "New Normal", which in the same year was also part of the Official Selection at the DepicT! Short Film Festival (Bristol, UK) and the Festival de Cine Colectivo (León, Mexico).

 

He has also worked as an Assistant Producer for television and independent films. During his career, he has collaborated with TV UNAM, Cadena 3 and some independent audiovisual companies. He is currently in France studying for a Master's in Cinematography at the National Superior School of Audiovisual (ENSAV) in the city of Toulouse.
