IVÁN ORIZAGA

Iván Orizaga Villaseñor is a Mexican cinematographer, graduate of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and holder of a Master’s degree in Cinematography from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Audiovisuel (ENSAV), Toulouse, France (2023). His work encompasses fiction, advertising, and the corporate sector.

His most notable credits as Director of Photography include the short films My Sugar Skull (Mi calaverita, by Andrea Crespo, 2018), All Grannies Are Witches (Las abuelas son brujas, by Yolanda Orizaga, 2019), and Ada Office (by Carlos V. Diupotex, 2021), as well as the web series Phobias (Fobias, by Jorge Amarilla, 2017–2018).

Alongside his work as a cinematographer, Iván has developed a body of work as a screenwriter, with titles such as Never Mind (Resignación, Official Selection - Shorts Mexico 2012) and Falling in Love at the Tower of Babel (Enamorado en la Torre de Babel, Official Selection - Shorts Mexico 2015 and Oaxaca FilmFest 2016).

In his role as director, he received the Curatorship Award at the Entretodos Festival 2021 (São Paulo, Brazil) for his one-minute film New Normal, which was also granted a Special Mention at the DepicT! Short Film Festival (Bristol, 2021) and the “Habitant” Jury Prize at the Des Courts en Bas des Tours Short Film Festival (Toulouse, 2022).

Iván has also collaborated as a Production Assistant in television, film, and audiovisual production. His experience includes training periods at channels such as TV UNAM and Cadena 3, as well as collaborations with independent production companies.
